Like a comet having reached its closest distance to the sun only to move steadily into the deep, dark recesses of space, Sarah Palin is fading from her maximum brilliance, having peaked at Uber-Joe-The-Plumber status over the past days / weeks.

The date of her actual maximum was clouded by babbling, interference in the New York’s 23rd district House race, Facebook posts, and buildup to a book release that — while anticipated — seems to have fallen with as much visual appeal as NASA’s recent mission to collide a satellite with the moon. (Fitting to Sarah Palin’s ’scientificless approach’, only scientists saw the true value in the data that — once analyzed — showed signs of having found significant quantities of water in the impact debris.)

But back to Sarah Palin . . . I think it was Oprah — You have to have real Oomph! if you’re going to propel past that and into an even greater, more brilliant future.

But the unfortunate — and sad — reality is Sarah Palin’s book, Going Rogue. What’s seriously missing so far is anything that establishes her as a forward-looking thinker as opposed to a complainer and quitter of the office of Governor of Alaska.

I, myself, may not represent the variety of American ideals the roughly 300,000,000 of us share, but it’s pretty clear there’s at least one thing we don’t take too kindly to — It’s people who point fingers, complain, and / or don’t have anything good to say.

Years ago I told my Dad that Howard Dean had to transform himself from being the ‘anti’ candidate, meaning anti-George Bush candidate, if just because no one (or hardly enough of everyone) want to vote for the ‘anti’ version of anything. It’s not what we Americans do.

Howard Dean’s ‘YAAH!’ moment would seem to similarly cloud when his campaign was nearly finished. But it wasn’t the ‘YAAH!’ — It was actually that he finished third in the Iowa Caucus. His ‘YAAH!’ was, in effect, just the exclamation point to the statement that his campaign was nearly already over. Howard Dean couldn’t transform quickly enough from the ‘anti’ candidate to one the People would would actually want to vote for.

But, again, back to Sarah Palin . . .

What’s most disturbing is her tact. The thing that’s gained her the most media attention of late, her book, seems to expose all the things we like in our reality TV (in-fighting, backstabbing, complaining, and scheming), not what we actually want to see in the people we actually deal with day-to-day.

And what I’m stunningly left confused over is . . . Just exactly who does she think will ever want to work for her? If finger pointing and the like are Sarah Palin’s modus operandi, then who would ever want to get anywhere near her? Sarah Palin, simply put, can’t run a campaign on her own — She needs people if she ever wants to run for anything again, let alone actually get elected. And, yet, here she is basically lying, pointing fingers, and whatnot, even to the extent Senator John McCain has been angered enough to speak out and, in some venues, possibly even point out Sarah Palin’s lack of integrity and truthfulness (some of his more courteous comments were reported by Reuters).

Sarah Palin’s chance to ‘tell it like it is’ seems to do nothing more than confirm what a massive majority of Americans have already decided, that she’s a small-minded quitter utterly unqualified for High Office. Part of me is sorry for being so callous and blunt, but we do have better things to spend our time on than Sarah Palin — Best we learn that lesson and move on.
